The Deputy Chief of Staff said that Clinton (78 years old) was admitted to the hospital for examination and observation.
Former US President Bill Clinton’s office announced that he was transferred to the hospital after suffering from a fever.
Clinton, 78, entered MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., for testing and monitoring on Monday afternoon, Angel Urena, Clinton’s deputy chief of staff, said in a statement.
“He remains in good spirits and is very appreciative of the excellent care he is receiving,” Orena said in a post on X.
Urena did not elaborate on Clinton’s condition, but NBC News quoted an anonymous source close to the former president as saying that the situation was “not urgent.”
Clinton, who served as the 42nd President of the United States from 1993 to 2001 under the Democratic Party banner, has faced a series of health problems over the years.
The former president was hospitalized for five nights in 2021 after suffering from sepsis caused by a urinary tract infection and underwent heart surgeries in 2004 and 2010.
Clinton has spoken publicly about making lifestyle changes in response to his health problems, including adopting a mostly vegetarian diet.
Since leaving office with the highest approval rating of any US president since the end of World War II, Clinton has played a prominent role as an elder statesman of the Democratic Party and a champion of various diplomatic and humanitarian causes.
In August, Clinton spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago to rally support for US Vice President Kamala Harris in her failed bid to reach the White House.
