Not everyone feels “joyful and cheerful” during the holidays, especially people who are already struggling with loneliness and their mental health.
Fortunately, free mental health care is available in Will County. Here’s how to access some of these resources.
Emergency mental health care
Trinity Services Living Room is a program of the Illinois Department of Human Services that gives adults access to free emergency mental health care 24 hours a day, 365 days on a walk-in basis.
Patients may self-refer or be referred to the Living Room by first responders or “other organizations with whom the individual experiencing such a crisis may come into contact,” According to the IDPH website.
The living room is free and insurance is not verified or needed, Evans said.
The Living Room is located at 2000 Glenwood Ave. In Juliet.

When residents call, they will get an appointment within 24 to 48 hours — or even the same day, “which is unheard of” for most people trying to access mental health services, Joliet Fire Chief Jeff Carey previously said.
Residents can schedule in-person or virtual appointments
2. If you have insurance, provide your name, health insurance information, and Joliet’s water bill account number. The Joliet Fire Department can issue a voucher number to anyone who does not have a water bill.
3. If you do not have insurance, call and tell the operator that you reside in Joliet. Enter your water bill account number or voucher number. Vouchers are available by calling 815-724-3500 or emailing jfdcrr@joliet.gov.
