The New York Mets have a gem in their farm system that could be ready to conquer the major leagues in 2025. Star right-hander Brandon Sproat is the Mets’ No. 1 prospect. It is expected that he will be called up to the league next season. The flamethrower’s elements, coupled with his outstanding efficiency, provide startling predictions about where he could prove himself once he hits the big league mound.

SNY Joe DeMaio He assessed the 24-year-old in a recent article on Monday by saying:
“After signing as a second-round pick out of the University of Florida in 2023, Sproat took minor league baseball by storm with his 100 mph fastball. “He has gone from an arm that many considered a project to one of the nation’s top prospects,” DeMayo wrote. Among the top 100 prospects in the sport.”
Along with his triple-digit fastball, the Florida native went 7-4 with a 3.40 ERA, a sparkling 1.11 WHIP, and 131 strikeouts in 24 games for the Triple-A Syracuse Mets. As much as Sprott left him to improve his repertoire, DiMaio continued:
“Sproat will have to improve some of his secondary pitching and clean up some of his command in the zone, but he has No. 2-type starting potential and I think he can force the Mets’ hand in the first half of 2025.”
Sproat could be a great backfield rotation piece for the Mets
New York has a group of pitchers already in their rotation. Kodai Senga and Sean Manaea will go first and second for the Mets next season, with David Peterson, Clay Holmes and Frankie Montas rounding out their featured rotation. The franchise could also return free-agent pitcher Jose Quintana, who finished last season with a 3.75 ERA and 135 Ks, and is still searching for Japanese sensation Rocky Sasaki after being deployed to Japan’s NPB this season.
Sproat would be a great option for Mets manager Carlos Mendoza to deploy from the sixth spot, and he along with 25-year-old second-year veteran Christian Scott will lead the next wave of talent on deck to flourish.
