Donald Trump posted his traditional Christmas rambling, in which he criticizes various enemies, mocks adversaries, and reiterates his desire for U.S. territorial expansion — restoring the Panama Canal, incorporating Canada into the federation, and purchasing Greenland.
A Danish official said the announcement that the country would increase Greenland’s defense spending was an “iron of fate”.
Troels Lund Poulsen, Danish Defense Minister, told the newspaper Jyllands-Posten on Tuesday that the country plans to spend a “double-digit sum” in krone — about $1.5 billion — to ensure they have a “stronger presence” in the Arctic.
Trump said that “ownership and control of Greenland is an absolute necessity” for the United States, which operates a base in the northwest of the region.
After apparently joking about Canada becoming the “51st” country, the incoming president released ominous messages claiming that the Panama Canal and Greenland pose serious economic and national threats to the United States and may be targeted for some sort of annexation or purchase.
Meanwhile, the House is reeling after an Ethics Committee report on former Congressman Matt Gaetz “determined there was substantial evidence” that he paid tens of thousands of dollars for sex and illicit drug use while he was a congressman.
A very MAGA Christmas: How Trump’s inner circle celebrates the holidays
Pledging to “never give up,” cheering on mass deportations, and claiming that Donald Trump “brought Christmas back to America” — that’s how MAGA is celebrating the holidays this year.
Perhaps surprisingly, Trump simply toned down his annual celebratory message send On Truth Social on Christmas morning: “Merry Christmas everyone!”

Trump appoints his ambassador to Panama
Donald Trump has named his nominee for US ambassador to Panama — a position that may have previously merited a footnote, but which could theoretically be of particular interest in the coming years given the president-elect’s demands to restore the Panama Canal.
Here’s what Trump wrote on Truth Social:
I am pleased to announce that Kevin Marino Cabrera will serve as the United States Ambassador to the Republic of Panama, the country that plunders us in the Panama Canal, beyond their wildest dreams.
Kevin is a fierce fighter for America First principles. As a Miami-Dade County Commissioner and Vice President of the International Trade Association, he was instrumental in driving economic growth and strengthening international partnerships. In 2020, Kevin did an amazing job as Florida State Director, and this year he advanced our MAGA agenda as a member of the RNC Platform Committee.
Few people understand Latin American politics like Kevin – he will do a great job representing our nation’s interests in Panama!

Trump is encouraging Wayne Gretzky to run for prime minister of Canada — or governor as he believes he will soon be
Donald Trump is encouraging former Canadian professional ice hockey player Wayne Gretzky to run for Prime Minister of Canada, stating that the position (at least in his mind) will soon be known as Governor of Canada.
Here’s what the president-elect said on Truth Social:
Wayne Gretzky, “The Great” as he is known in ice hockey circles, has just left. I said: “Wayne, why don’t you run for Prime Minister of Canada, soon to be known as Governor of Canada – you’ll win easily, and you won’t even have to campaign.” He had no interest, but I think the people of Canada should start a Wayne Gretzky movement project. It will be fun to watch!

Trump posts long Christmas greeting
Just in case you thought Donald Trump was going to deliver a simple “Merry Christmas” as his holiday greeting, here’s what we’ve really been waiting for — a strange and garbled message to… [checks notes] China’s soldiers, Justin Trudeau, the people of Greenland, and the lunatics of the radical left.
The president-elect also refuses to wish Merry Christmas to “37 of the most violent criminals” whom Joe Biden has pardoned, instead telling them to “go to hell.”
Here’s the full two-part Social Truth post:
Merry Christmas to everyone, including China’s wonderful soldiers, who lovingly but illegally run the Panama Canal (we lost 38,000 lives building it 110 years ago), and always make sure the US invests billions of dollars. In the “repair” money, but he will have absolutely nothing to say about “anything”. Also, to the Governor of Canada, Justin Trudeau, whose taxes on his citizens are very high, but if Canada became our 51st state, their taxes would be reduced by more than 60%, their business would immediately double in size. To enjoy military protection unparalleled in any other country in the world. Likewise, for the people of Greenland, who the United States needs for national security purposes, and who want the United States to be there, we will!…
…Page 2: Merry Christmas to the radical leftist lunatics, who are constantly trying to obstruct our court system and our elections, and are always going after the great and patriotic citizens of the United States, but in particular, their political opponent, M.E. They know that their only chance of survival is to get a pardon from a man who has absolutely no idea what he is doing. And also, to 37 of our most violent criminals, who killed, raped and plundered like almost no one before them, but who have just, incredibly, received a pardon from Sleepy Joe Biden. I refuse to wish those lucky “souls” a Merry Christmas, but instead, I will say, GO TO HELL! We had the greatest election in our country’s history, and now a bright light shines over the United States of America, and in 26 days, we will make America great again. Merry Christmas!

Trump wants to buy Greenland. How would that actually work?
Although the president-elect is unlikely to have any success in convincing the governments of Greenland or Denmark to sever ties between the European country and its autonomous territories in North America, it is worth considering the process of how the United States obtains new weapons. Territories – and how those lands can be classified.
Greenland has been linked to Denmark politically and culturally for more than a century. The United States may not have realized the strength of those relations, as it has repeatedly expressed its interest in acquiring the land and its people. The first campaign by American politicians to purchase Greenland began in 1867, led by then-Secretary of State William Seward.

Trump’s FCC Chairman Sends Ominous Message to Disney CEO: ‘Americans No Longer Trust the National Media’
In a letter to Disney CEO Bob Iger, Brendan Carr lamented the “erosion of public trust” in the news media and suggested ABC was partly to blame.
Carr — who wrote the FCC’s chapter on Project 2025 — said the agency will “monitor” ABC’s negotiations with local TV stations that broadcast its programming.
