Speaking to Fox Business on Tuesday, Homan said Trump’s deportation proposal would be “expensive,” but assured taxpayers it would ultimately save money in the near future.
“Congress needs to fund this deportation,” he said. “It’s going to be expensive, and everyone is focused on how expensive it is. We have to understand that this is going to be expensive initially, but in the long run it will save billions of dollars in taxpayer money.”
The acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) recently said he would like to have 100,000 detention beds instead of the current several tens of thousands.
He said what highlights the biggest national security crisis facing the United States is that the federal government needs cash to provide more prison beds, deportation flights and health services in order to get illegal immigrants out of the United States.

Trump pledged on Sunday that his administration would begin “the largest deportation operation in American history” on the first day of his return to the White House.
“I will sign a historic slate of executive orders on my first day in the Oval Office to close our borders to illegal aliens and stop the invasion of our country,” Trump told a cheering crowd at Turning Point Action’s AmericaFest conference in Phoenix, Arizona. “.
Homan, who was selected to lead the current deportation campaign, said resources will be directed first to criminally active illegal aliens.
“We will do the job with or without you,” the new border czar added, adding that he would not allow Sanctuary City officials to derail the attempt.
